Montessori Day School In The Woods
"It's in every one of us to be wise"
welcome

Montessori Day School is a non-profit 501 c 3 corporation devoted to
educating children using the Montessori method as developed by Maria Montessori.

“It’s in every one of us to be wise”

Our Mission:

All children, regardless of ethnic or socio-economic status, will
experience academic progress and freedom of expression through the
Montessori model and a diverse cultural arts program at Montessori Day School.

Our global curriculum is designed to help develop the innate
qualities of the child’s spiritual, physical and creative tendencies.

Montessori Day School values each individual student at as an active partner in learning science, the arts and humanities, giving special consideration to the holistic development of the child while instilling respect for one’s
self, others and the environment.

“Education is not something that a teacher does, but is a natural
process which develops spontaneously in a human being. It is not acquired by words, but in virtue of experiences in which the child acts on in his environment.”

The Absorbent Mind, Maria Montessori

“A teacher is one who prepares and presents positive and structured opportunities, affording the child individual freedom to grow on his journey to becoming a responsible and capable person. The teacher leads by example and gently guides the child to discover his divine purpose. The teacher through quiet, careful observation is a witness to the unfolding of a child’s soul.”

“I always knew that I would be a teacher. I can remember when my sister and I used to stay up late into the night, while by flashlight, I would share with her the things that I learned that day in school.

Now I am realizing my goal of creating a multicultural education center for Montessori and spiritual education. I feel motivated by my personal experiences as a teacher and a parent of Montessori children and the endless possibilities by which they are able learn and grow. Throughout the past fifteen years, I have experienced both personal and professional success while teaching and directing in traditional, religious and Montessori environments.”
